Thought leadership piece: Students will write a piece on a topic related to, and based on their learnings from the business project. The piece should identify a key concept or issue and discuss a wider industry relevance that encourages interest in the topic from a “thought leadership” perspective.
Reflection: The Individual Learning Reflection is an opportunity to conduct an extensive reflection on the entire Business Project experience looking at the group performance and your role as a member of the group in achieving the desired outcome. Specifically the portfolio also looks at reflecting on the entire scope of learning throughout the process from an academic, consulting, group dynamics and personal growth perspective.
Thought Leadership Piece: Notes and Tips
The Thought Leadership Piece is an individual assignment that provides students with an opportunity to explore and share interesting concepts discovered from their consulting experience with the wider MMGT community.
It will be disseminated via the Master of Management LinkedIn site and act as a platform from which to present your views and establish a virtual professional presence among future colleagues and potential employers.
This profile will be built via a discussion of an area of interest inspired by the consulting work undertaken for the Business Project. The primary basis of discussion will address your ability to identify the key business issues, discuss the challenges and opportunities this concept presented to the project, the value added for the partner organisation and potential wider industry or societal relevance.
Please note, as this is posted on a LinkedIn sight so as to maintain client confidentiality please do not name the client specifically in the TLP but just refer to the industry or product/service category within which it operates
It is important to note that this is NOT a prescriptive piece of writing that outlines the process and stages of your Business Project. It is about discussing a key idea, finding or insight, which has stemmed from your work and potentially has wider interest and relevance to otherrelevant stakeholders and industry or in fact wider society as a whole.
This assessment is an opportunity to showcase your efforts to a wider industry group of colleagues and potential employers, as well as gain some authentic feedback in terms of response from this external audience.

Individual Reflection Portfolio: Notes and Tips
The Individual Learning Reflection Portfolio is an opportunity to conduct an extensive reflection on the entire Business Project experience looking primarily at the group performance as business consultants and your role as a member of the group in achieving the desired outcome for your client and project.
Specifically the portfolio looks at reflecting on the entire scope of learning throughout the process from an academic, consulting, group dynamics and personal growth perspective. We are equally interested in an appraisal of the management and consulting skills learnt, as well as the personal skills developed as a result of working within a group context for the projects and the difficulties that this often presents.
This assignment is very much about the quality of the reflection undertaken on an individual basis and the insights gained as a result of participating in the Business Projects Unit of Study. It is NOT a discussion of the process and stages undertaken to develop the Business Project!

This assessment is to be disseminated via LinkedIn through posting on the Masters of Management group portal.
You will need to join the MMGT LinkedIn group portal. This requires a request to be sent to Lance and then be accepted. Therefore, please give yourself some lead time to be accepted into the MMGT LinkedIn group, before the submission date of the TLP, so as it will be uploaded by the submission deadline.
Please note, it is also necessary to submit the TLP electronically for grading via the assignment portal on the course canvas site.

The group experience:
In the beginning stage, we have been trying to take the client’s will to conduct research. but also did not find a specific direction. All members are vague about the future direction of search. And the client is not quite clear, or not quite know which direction they want to do specifically. Later, with the help of mentor, let us gradually determine the goal. Because the mentor’s participation will give us a lot of good ideas, as well as will give us advice from her perspective and experience. But later on, during the report process, the group members would disagree with each other, because everyone’s perspective and background of professional education were different, so critical discussions would occur. My part was the final survey analysis and recommendation, and after I finished writing the survey analysis, I asked my group members to help me see what I needed to improve or revise. But in the end, they were deleting all the parts of my writing. They did not inform me, but deleted and reworked without my knowledge. I tried to explain to them that it was just a first draft, and that more refined changes would follow, just to show them if there were any problems with my logic, or anything else that could be added. But, for some reason they didn’t respect me or explain with me. The same goes for the RECOMMENDATION that follows. I may not have written it well, or maybe it didn’t fit their ideal. But I tried to do it, and also tried to communicate with them, and also hope that a team can help each other. Their part was available to write from the beginning, while mine was the last week or so before I started writing. I know my weakness, lies in writing, so I also hope they can help me more, but there are two group members who are not very tolerant of me.
