Look closely at the section, Kants Arguments on Lying in your Rachels text. Imagine two very different cases in which you might be tempted to tell a lie. The first one should be something relatively mundane, superficial, and insignificantas when you tell a lie in order to make someone feel good about themselves. (In this case, you are clearly lying, but you think it would be better to lie than tell the truth.) The second case should be something more significant or seriousas in telling a lie to save someones life.

1. Describe both scenarios.

2. Explain clearly why Kant would disagree with these lies. What are his reasons?

3. How would you respond to Kantdo you agree or disagree with Kants objection to lying?
