History shows that public administration had been practiced throughout the centuries in one form or another. For this assignment, assess the progress in public administration in the United States over the last century. Create a timeline that introduces three key factors, their scholars, successes, and pitfalls, which changed public administration between 1900 and 2018.

Explain why you consider these changes as most important in how they influenced public administration and private entities.

Include the political and societal backgrounds, and then explain why change was necessary.

Assess new challenges in managing resources that evolved in recent years.

Defend these challenges and the steps taken to overcome obstacles.

Support your assignment with at least three scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including seminal articles, may be included.

Assignment: Examine the Validity of Seminal Scholars’ Theories and Concepts in Today’s Public Policy

Instructions

As a member of the American Society for Public Administration, you are asked to write a critical analysis for this organizations upcoming annual conference.

The topic of the analysis is an evaluation of the validity of seminal scholarly theories and concepts in todays public administration environment. Research and explore the theories of three public administrator scholars, and then discuss how their ideologies differ. Include the following in your analysis:

• Identify and analyze three seminal public administration theories.
• Determine if the theories and concepts are still valid and applied today by public and private entities. Provide examples to support your evaluation.
• Formulate suggestions for improvements of these theories and concepts for increased efficiency and transparency in public administration practice.

This week you read about one of many concepts in public administration, ethics. You are not limited to discussing ethics in this weeks submission. Your goal is to present three theories, critique them, discuss aspects which are no longer valid, and suggest improvements or modifications which would make these theories relevant in todays world.

Note: Seminal theories refer to research and writing on public administration which broke new ground and influenced practices in government. To get you started, there are two books in the NCU library that may be helpful:
