1. Students are expected to make full use of references. All citations should use the latest Chicago Style method of documentation. This includes both footnotes/endnotes AND a bibliography. Footnotes or endnotes have a 10-inch font and should be square against the margin.

2. The bibliography should appear as the last page in your research paper. Both cover page and bibliography do not count towards the 10 pages limit. You should have the minimum of 6 sources used in the paper, listed in the bibliography.

3. Your research paper is to be an argumentative essay. Therefore, you need to have a thesis statement that would normally appear in the introduction of your essay. The thesis should be framed as a declarative statement, meaning it should take a position that can be argued throughout the paper.

4. The body of your paper should provide supporting evidence related to your main argument or thesis.

5. Try to develop a cohesive essay that flows naturally from the introduction through the body and conclusion.

6. Your conclusion should re-state your thesis or main idea and perhaps provide additional broad insight on the topic discussed.

7. The paper should be written in Standard British-English. Avoid lengthy sentences, or academic jargon that would obscure the essential ideas you are trying to express.
