This problem set asks you to create your own data. That process can be cumbersome, but
it mirrors processes by public managers in professional work settings. It is essential that the data
you create in Excel are your own. You will be able to use this dataset for future Problem Sets.
1. Create a table in Excel exactly looking like the table on page 3. Save the file by naming
Problem Set 1-(Your Initials). For example, my file name is
"Problem Set 1-SN".

b. All the headers (i.e., field names) and numbers in the table are centered both vertically
and horizontally.

d. The headers and records in Row 4 and 12 respectively are colored; you can choose the

e. All cells should be bordered as shown in Figure 1 on page 3; you can choose the border
type(s) which you like.

Change the name of "Sheet 1" to "Major Felony Offenses"

Copy the table including the table title end paste it to an empty worksheet tab. Change the
name of the worksheet tab to "MFO-Copy"

Copy and transpose (rotate) the table from rows to columns in an empty worksheet tab as
shown in Figure 2 on page 4. Change the name of the worksheet tab to "MFO-Transpose".

7. Delete Column J, "TOTAL SEVEN MAJOR FELONY OFFENSES" in the table in the
"MFO-Transpose" sheet.
