Your assignment is:
1. Find your state legislative district (the number)
2. Who are your TWO state representatives (political party included)
3. ONE state Senator (current) and who is running in your legislative district in the next upcoming election (political party included)
You can find out what district you live in here:
Arizona: https://azredistricting.org/districtlocator/ (Links to an external site.)
New Mexico: https://www.nmlegis.gov/ (Links to an external site.)
Once you enter your address, it will display a map and information which looks like this (EX: From AZ website)
AZ District.png
At the top will be your CONGRESSIONAL district (US House of Representatives) and my LEGISLATIVE district.
Now that you know the NUMBER of your LEGISLATIVE district, you can find out who your current STATE representatives and STATE senators are.
Next, use the VERY valuable resource Ballotpedia to find out who your candidates are.
1. Go to Google
2. Type in “Ballotpedia legislative district XX” (with XX being your district number).
At or near the top of the search results should pull up the Ballotpedia page with lots of info on your LEGISLATIVE district – including WHO will be on the ballot in the next upcoming election.
You will turn in a typed or legibly handwritten document detailing:
1) What LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT NUMBER you live in
2) Who your TWO STATE REPRESENTATIVES and ONE STATE SENATOR are (AND their political parties)
3) Who is on the ballot for the positions this November. If there is no searchable candidate please list the incumbent.
