Critical Appraisal Template for Qualitative Research Study
Use the following template to evaluate the selected research study. Only use this template for qualitative research designs. Responses should immediately follow each appraisal item and written using complete sentences. Note- the inclusion of additional sources/materials to adequately support your responses is warranted. The textbook or other scholarly sources should be cited in APA when providing rationale that is not specifically found in the study. For example, the study’s purpose and findings would be outlined within the article itself and no citation is needed. Whereas, evaluation of the methods (sampling, data collection/analysis, determining trustworthiness) would require additional references to support your critique. All citations should follow APA 7th ed. format, including for direct quotations used. The reference list may be added as a final page to the completed appraisal template.
