1. Read Robin DiAngelo’s   "The Perception of Race" (p519) and Aliya Saperstein’s Agustin Fuentes’s  "Myth of Race" (p719)
    Answer   ONE of the following questions for its corresponding article in   200-300 words:
    1)   "The Perception of Race":  DiAngelo is interested in historical patterns of racism that remain with us today. What does she mean when she says, "Today these advantages [of whiteness] are de facto rather than dejure, but are nonetheless powerful in shaping our daily lives"? Look up the terms de facto and  dejure, and discuss what this sentence means in relation to the main point of her essay.
    2)  "The Myth of Race": Where and How does Fuentes include writers whose ideas differ from his own? Mark those sections and discuss the effectiveness of including those voices as a strategy of advancing his own argument. Where and how does he address readers who might disagree with him? How effectively does he address their concerns?
