Ethnic Identity

PLEASE FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS CLOSELY. I HAVE ATTACHED WHAT I WROTE SO FAR SO PLEASE USE THAT AS A GUIDE TO PERSONALIZE THE ESSAY SINCE IT IS A REFLECTION. 

I HAVE ALSO ATTACHED AN EXAMPLE OF AN ETHIC IDENTITY ESSAY. PLEASE USE THESE TWO AS A GUIDE TO WRITE THE ESSAY.

1. In a 4 double-spaced pages you are to self-identify your race and/or ethnicity. 

BACKGROUND: I was born in America but my parents are Indians from Guyana, South America. I identify as Indo Guyanese-American.

2. In the essay you are to discuss how you have come to identify yourself as this race and/or identity. 

BACKGROUND: I grew up in a home that instilled strong cultural values. Education is the way out of poverty and secures life of betterment. Self respect and respecting parents, grandparents and elders in community are important. 

3. During this process you are to discuss your family background, as well as your personal experiences out- side of family that lead you to your identity. 

4. Discuss the role that race and/or ethnicity plays in your life. 

5. Discuss whether or not you are often identified or associated with an- other race and/or identity that you have not personally associated yourself with. I would like you to discuss the impact of having an outside identity.

BACKGROUND: I am often mistaken as a  hispanic/latino due to the color of my hair.
