Here’s my proposition: It can be argued that the U.S. is the most dangerous country in the world today across a spectrum of areas. Some would say that the US is the leading terrorist state. I would agree, but I would want to be clear that my definition of terrorism is broader than how we normally think of it. In fact, I would say that other than Hitler’s Germany, and Possibly, Possibly Japan, the U.S. has the most destructive record of the 20th and 21st (to date) centuries.
I am not talking about how governments treat their own populations. Few would argue that the U.S. is more brutal than, say, the Russian or Chinese regimes internally. (we do have 1 out of every 100 / 3 million Americans in prison, but that is another issue). Note that this discussion thread was created before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It will be hard, but try to read this as if the Ukraine crisis had not yet happened. To focus on the Russian aggression would really distort the 1945-2021 reality of the proposition.
