· This is the first (1) assessment task you must successfully complete to be deemed competent in this unit of competency.
· The Knowledge Test is comprised of twelve (12) written questions · You must respond to all questions and submit them to your Trainer/Assessor. · You must answer all questions to the required level, e.g. provide an answer within the required word limit, to be deemed satisfactory in this task · You will receive your feedback within two (2) weeks, and you will be notified by your Trainer/Assessor when your results are available.

Purpose of the assessment

This assessment task is designed to evaluate student’s knowledge essential to construct eaves of contexts and industry settings and knowledge regarding the following:
· Knowledge of the compliance requirements of the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian Standards relevant to constructing eaves, including AS 1684 Residential timber-framed construction and the National Association of Steel-framed Housing (NASH) Standards · Knowledge of the workplace quality policies and standards relevant to constructing eaves · Knowledge of the safety requirements for constructing eaves · Knowledge of the construction techniques for eave fascia and soffit · Knowledge of the eaves design: o sloping soffits and boxed eaves o verandas, concealed gutters and open eaves · Knowledge of the materials for constructing eaves: o beads o sheeting o joining mould o steel o quads o timber and steel fascia o roof battens o timber lining boards · knowledge of the levelling techniques for constructing eaves · knowledge of the plans, specifications and drawings for constructing eaves · knowledge of the types and uses of tools and equipment for constructing eaves · knowledge of the processes for the calculation of material requirements for constructing eaves · knowledge of the timber shrinkage and required clearances for various constructions · knowledge of the geometry for constructing eaves.
