Week 2 Discussion Post Responses
by Patrina Reed
These questions actually really made me think about my response. I didn’t want to give the textbook answer or what I thought you might want to hear, so here are my thoughts. In the last 2 years I have truly grown in the knowledge of who I am as a Women, Women of God and a Leader. So I can no longer really acknowledge what man/society or even what the church says who I am.
Who do you say you are as a Leader?
As a Leader…
- I am a Motivator. I in part hope into people
- I am a Decision maker. Doing the right things when it’s not easy or hard
- I am Coach. Showing average people how to do the work of superior people
- I am confident
- I am a Influencer
- I am a Innovator
- I am a visionary
Who does God say you are?
He says, I Am…
- royalty, worshipper, warrior/soldier, vessel of honor, farmer, laborar, more than a conqueror
- compassionate, one who empowers, an encourager, a healer
- a precious jewel in his crown, seer, workmanship, prophet
I Am The Daughter of the Most High God…
Who does society say you are?
I found these statistics to be on the largest scale of untruthfulness.

In closing, I’d like to share this poem since the start of this new journey of Master’s program, Women in leadership it has encouraged me to be that women for those that may feel like they don’t matter or can’t make a change or don’t even have a voice. I Am That Women for them.
Poem By: Tiffany Sunday
Before I could read, her voice filled my ears,
and taught my soul to believe all things were possible because I was to be a women,
without limits, without boundaries.
Flowing through my being words of encouragement, words of wisdom, to face the challenges ahead
for I am WOMAN.
After much thought and struggle, here are my thoughts on the 4 topics presented:
Who do I say I am as a leader:
I am a visionary, leader of a nation, a market place Apostle, prophetic & pastoral, motivator, creative thinker, risk taker, cheerleader, supporter, generous giver, midwife in the natural & spiritual, hard worker, unifier, listener, teacher, faithful, honest, compassionate momma bear, negotiator, lover of my team, encourager and confronter of hard things! A leader is someone that has people following them, if nobody is following, you are simply taking a walk. I find there are some that constantly talk about being a Senior Leader…I say “who is following you and where is the fruit?”
Who does God say I am:
He says I am his girl, His sweet one, created in His image as a glorious female with gifts that are true and deeply embedded in my DNA. He says:
I am called of God 2 Timothy 1:9
I am chosen 1 Thessalonians 1:4
I am the apple of His eye Psalm 17:8
I am being changed into His image Cor 3:18
I am the temple of the Holy Spirit 1 Cor. 6:19
I am blessed Galatians 3:9
I am above & not beneath Deut. 28:13
I am victorious Rev. 12:11
I am fearfully & wonderfully made Psalm 139:14
I am SET FREE! John 8:31
Who does society say that I am?
A woman, a wife, mother, Nana, daughter, friend, business owner, leader, influencer in my community, generous giver, lover of God, friend to many, a gatherer of our community and a sharer of my blessings!
Who does the church say that I am?
Ugh…this is a hard one. I see the “church” as the people I worship and gather with mostly on Sundays…there is a great part of me that does not really think about how they see me. The ones that know me, know my heart and my intentions…they are the ones that have my back, pray for me and defend my honor. They are the ones that I worship with in spirit and in truth. They are the ones that know they can count on me and know that I will do and give all that I can. Some know I am a spiritual momma…at the end of the day the only real “opinion” I care about if Gods…yes of course my family but God’s opinion is #1.
