Instruction

Each student will present their final paper to the class during one of the last three class periods. Note you must submit a final paper in order to present; the assignments go hand-in-hand. This assignment counts for 15 percent of your final grade.

Presentation Format

Students will speak for 8 minutes.

The presentation should be professional. Don’t wing it. You should speak for the entire 8 minutes without going substantially over or under time. You should prepare notes. The extensiveness of the notes depends upon your personal preference. I won’t ask you to submit them.

The presentations of students who wrote historical papers should respond to the following questions/prompts:

• What was your contemporary issue or problem?
• What social, cultural, political, economic, and/or legal phenomena played an important role in giving rise to your issue or program? In other words, what was your thesis? What history did you examine to better understand the origins of your issue or program? Tell us about the history that you found.
• How does your project relate to one or more themes from our class this semester?
• Optional: Tell us at least one question or interesting tidbit from your research that you wish you had more time to explore.
• Optional: Did your research make you view your contemporary issue or problem in a new way? If so, how?
