You can write a very brief description of the venue and other observations about the concert, but the bulk of your paper should focus on the actual music you heard.
Be sure to address the following:
To the best of your ability, apply the knowledge you have gained from your class reading assignments to evaluate the performance and write intelligently about the music you hear. Evaluate not only the music itself but also the quality of the performance. Be sure to give examples to support your claims. This is not a paper about the history of the music or the history of the ensemble/performers. It is about what you experienced.
Consider how the context of external factors (venue, sound system, etc.) might influence your position regarding your critique of the performance.
Consider what diverse, new, unique or contradictory factors are influential in your writing about the concert. Please go into greater depth than whether you like the music or not.
Your final paragraph should address a general conclusion/summation about your experience at the concert while considering the music/performance presented.
Each report should be typed and 2 pages in length, double spaced. Use 1 margins and no font larger than 12 point. Page 2 of the report must fill at least 2/3 of the page. Concert reports that do not meet this length requirement will have a point deduction of 20 points.
The heading should be just your name in the upper corner of the page and a centered title. Headings that take up more space than this will not count toward the length of the paper. An MLA format heading should NOT be used for the concert reports.
