The authors of the above paper make a case that bias in data can cause predictive analytics and other machine learning bias. Given what we’ve learned in previous weeks about racism and bias effects on health, this is concerning. Using biased data to create a predictive analysis makes the predictive analysis biased. Is this a new idea to you — that health data can be biased and perpetuate biases the more it is used? What are your thoughts about this?
