The slides can be created in whatever package you prefer Powerpoint, Scientific Workplace/Beamer, Lyx/Beamer, etc. Please just be sure that you can create a PDF file from the slides for submission to the instructor and tutor. How many slides should you have? This is really up to how you structure your presentation. 2 minutes per slide isnt a bad rule of thumb, but feel free to break this rule. For example, you may wish to use a couple of slides that make a quick point, for example, a powerful visual, and only take 30 seconds for those. Or you may take 3-4 minutes on a slide with a number of touchpoints that you play off with illustrations, etc. Bottom line: make sure you practice your presentation multiple times so you know you can get through it at a good, engaging pace in just under 10 minutes.
