LDRS 420 Assignment –Life’s Critical Events Paper
Barth (as cited in George, Sims, McLean, & Mayer (2007) wrote, “The story of
your life is not your life. It is your story … many leaders reported that their motivation came from a difficult experience in their lives” (p.2). It is through these transformative experiences (events) that authentic leaders give meaning to their lives, and they reframe these events, rise above the challenges, and discover their passion to lead. We, too, are shaped by our life’s events.
Reflect on the following:
- What are some of the transformative (critical) events that happened in your life?
- What was so difficult or challenging that gave you that special meaning?
- What changes did you have to make to become the person (leader) you are today?
- Link your life’s critical events to the individual change section of this course.
