We have read about African colonization:  Borders created by the Europeans, Education changed to the European Model (including Liberia), Religion affected by Christian Missionaries (change from African Traditional Religions and competition with Islam), Government changed to a Nation State based on the European Model, and an Economy that fed the European Industrial Complex. Most African colonies turned into Nation States from 1957 through 1964 and then later 1994.  Decolonization is defined as the act of getting rid of colonization, or freeing a country from being dependent on another country.   Power Point  Download Power Point #7  African Independence Download #7  African Independence

Are the Independent African Nation States Completely decolonized?  (Discuss how European borders, education, economy, religion, and government are still a part of Independent African Nations)?  Give your Explanation and ONE Example from the French-speaking African Colonies/Nation States AND ONE Example from the English-speaking African Colonies/Nation States.  Ask the following questions:

  1. Did they change their borders,
    2. Did they remove the European language as the official government language,
    3. Do they No Longer use the European/American School Format
    4. Did they change the governmental format away from the European format (One Party state is an Internal Change, BUT Do they Still Use the European Parliamentary System?).
    5. Did they industrialize and are no longer dependent upon the European industrial complex to buy their agricultural and mineral raw materials

Are they Dependent upon Internal European Trained Leaders AND External Ex-Colonizers AND International Lending Agencies like the IMF & the World Bank?

IF the answer is No to any one of these items THEN the African Nation is NOT Decolonized which means they are STILL COLONIZED but maybe a little differently.  Due by Midnight April 17, 2023
