Decision Making

This week’s discussion board will give you an opportunity to tell us about a family decision that either your family made/is currently making or one of a family you know.

1. Tell us the decision and who makes the decisions within the family
2. Tell us 3 factors or considerations that were considered OR ones that you felt were not considered (you can mix and match)
3. Tell us the outcome or the expected outcome of the decision
4. Tell us if you agree or disagree with the decision made, why or why not
5. Lastly, reply to a classmate. When doing so, you are not judging the situation in any way. You can offer ideas about how if one of the discussion points had been different how that difference may have changed the situation.  You could offer a factor or consideration that was not mentioned in the original post that might affect the decision making process.  Maybe you relate to their shared story, share with them how it turned out for your family or how you were affected by a similar family decision.

Answer the following questions and  make sure you complete all the different parts to each question. 

As always you are expected to number and answer your responses and to use complete sentences, proper grammar, spelling capitalization and punctuation.

1. After reviewing the 3 Main Styles of Decision-Making , which one best describes your home life growing up. Give me an example that supports your answer.
2. Now I want you to consider the 3 Main Styles of Decision Making in regards to the school setting:
   1. Which style do you think is most used in the school setting (Preschool/School Age.
   2. Tell me a pro and a con for this style.
   3. Do you believe this is the best style to be used in the a school setting why or why not, and if not, which style (of the 3) would be better to use and why?
3. How did your parent’s/guardian’s dominant parenting style affect decision making in your family?
   1. Tell me the dominant style (or 2 if 2 were equally present)
   2. Give an example of how their style directed their decision making.
