Research Work

The purpose of this assignment is to explore the role of the Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) prepared nurse with regard to theory, research, and scholarship in professional practice. Consideration should be given to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) DNP Essentials. Collaboration and cultural competence should also be discussed as they apply to these elements. (SLO 4.1, 4.2, CO 4, 6, 8)

Requirements:

1. To complete this assignment, you will need to access to the following databases: PubMed, CINAHL, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and other resources in the Jay Sextet Library. These data bases can be accessed through the Touro Online Library http://tun.touro.edu/jay-sexter-library/Links to an external site.
2. The Roles and Responsibilities Practice Paper is worth 150 points and will be graded using the designated rubric. Grading criteria include quality of content, appropriate citations, use of Standard English grammar, and overall organization and readability.
3. Create your assignment using a Microsoft Word application. The document should be saved in a .doc or . docx format.
4. The paper should be 5-6 pages in length excluding title page and reference pages.
5. APA format is required.
6. Discussion of cultural competence, collaboration, and the AACN DNP Essentials should be integrated into each section of the paper as appropriate.

2. Perform a scholarly search exploring cultural competence and collaboration in theory, research, and scholarship as it pertains to the DNP role.
3. Examine the AACN DNP Essentials and consider how these concepts could guide the DNP in the practice of theory, research, and scholarship.
4. Synthesize your ideas and decide what you want to focus on in your paper. Write an introduction that summarizes this. Formulate a thesis statement that provides a summary of what will be explored in the paper.
5. Using your text and scholarly inquiry as a guide, write about the DNP prepared nurse’s role in theory. Consider how the AACN standards you researched support this role and discuss this. Also discuss how you might collaborate with others either within your discipline or outside of nursing to facilitate positive outcomes in this regard.
