To be an effective leader, you need to understand you are not operating in a bubble. In today’s digital age, other leaders are experiencing similar challenges and successes that you are experiencing. It is time to use technology to expand your community. Leaders need to have a support network of individual who are in similar positions to learn from one another. Sometimes, they have already gone through the exact situation you are walking through right now and their experience can be invaluable. It is time to grow your sphere of influence!
Using social media sites such as LinkedIn, find a group that relates to either your current position or the one you desire to have and ask to join. LinkedIn Groups such as eLearning 2.0 and the eLearning Guild are great starting points. Once added, search through recent posts and read a few that catch your eye. Then, search for information on podcasts.
For this assignment, you will join social media groups in your area of expertise and create a presentation on your findings. You may use PowerPoint, Google Slides, or any presentation software of your choice and describe these findings:
- What are three current trends you see in your field on these groups? Summarize each trend.
- What additional uses and information did you learn about podcasts? Was there something that would help you as you implement podcast in your school?
- Don’t forget to include the name of the group you joined, its purpose, and the location of the group.
