Physical Anthropologists are continually expanding and developing the field. The field is ever evolving and is a host to a wide range of topics.
Please find a current research project that physical anthropologists are conducting or have concluded recently and answer the following questions:
When was/is this project being worked on and by whom?
What was the topic of the project?
Where was it being conducted?
For how long was the work was being conducted?
What was the process that was used?
Looking at the titles of topics from the syllabus, do you believe any of these topics apply to the article or project you have found?
Why did you choose this project to research?

Examples:
1. When was/is this project being worked on and by whom?
Back in 2004, construction workers broke ground in a shopping mall in Norwich, England, and found 17 bodies at the bottom of an 800-year-old well. To understand more about how these 17 people died, scientists were recently able to extract detailed genetic material preserved in the bones thanks to DNA sequencing. The project is led by Selina Brace, a principal researcher at the Natural History Museum.
2. What was the topic of the project?
The topic is a group of scientists conducting research and investigating how and why these 17 bodies died.
3. Where was it being conducted?
The research was being conducted at the Francis Crick Institute which is located in London, England.
4. For how long was the work was being conducted?
The research has been going on for twelve years after they first started. They discovered the well back in 2004, and they finished the research in 2022.
5. What was the process that was used?
To understand more about how these people died, scientists were able to extract detailed genetic material preserved in the bones, all thanks to the advancements in ancient DNA sequencing.
6. Looking at the titles of topics from the syllabus, do you believe any of these topics apply to the article or project you have found?
I think it does yes, with this discovery ties into the use of forensics as researchers use ancient technology, scientific method, and other methods in doing research to discover how these people died.
7. Why did you choose this project to research?
I chose this topic because it gives everybody an understanding of how research back then is different from how research is done today. It also forces us to realize the real horrors of what happened to these innocent people during a time of death and terror.

When was/is this project being worked on and by whom? The cave of H. Luzonensis was discovered in 2003 but remains were not found until 2007 in a place called Callao Cave which is located in the Philippines. They bones were not tie to humans until archaeologist Florent Détroit and Armand Mijares made connections to humans.
What was the topic of the project? The topic of the discovery is human evolution as the Homo Luzonensis discovery is said to have be around since at the very least 50,000 years ago.
Where was it being conducted? The research was being conducted in Callao Cave which is located in Northern Luzon in the Philippines.
For how long was the work was being conducted?  It has been going on for about 16 years, the cave was discovered in 2003 and Homo Luzonensis was not given their name until 2019 after more remains were found.
What was the process that was used? Researchers dug deep and excavated in the Callao Cave. They found teeth and bones within the dirt which further study was used to identify that they belonged to an ancient species of humans.
Looking at the titles of topics from the syllabus, do you believe any of these topics apply to the article or project you have found? Yes I do, this discovery ties into the forensics as researchers are using a scientific method or methods with the fossils of a new anicent species to conduct their experiment.
Why did you choose this project to research? Human evolution is extremely interesting to me as it is a controversial topic due to the diversity in our beliefs as a society. It is said thaat Homo luzonensis were less than three feet tall, it is pretty insane to think about a human being that small and interesting to figure out how we grew so much.
