I would rate myself as a 6/10 as a writer. I am not a good writer and I don’t like writing since English is my second language.  My biggest challenges when writing are running out of ideas and I have a lot of grammar problems. I am stressed every time I write because I am worried that people will not understand my ideas. In this module, I found the part ” Writing quality matters” is very helpful and I plan to use to improve my writing. I know that I can get assistance for proofreading and proposing editing as long as I am making changes and use software to proofread my work for spelling and grammar check.

Honestly, I think that I do not have the authority to rate myself as a writer. However, I could assume that I am a writer who is still learning to critically think and be creative as well. The biggest challenges I face during the writing process are grammar, spelling, also I have difficulties using the appropriate vocabulary for the different types of writing whether it is academic, scientific or business type of writing. Some of the approaches that I plan to use to improve my writing are more revising and reviewing of my papers as well as the use of peer feedback. Another strategy which I could use while writing could be the Academic Success Center where I can find tutors or ask professors for suggestions and support.

I used to be a good writer when I was in middle/high school in Korea. However, I would not give a good credit if I rate myself as a writer at this moment. The biggest reason is because of grammar. People won’t understand what I try to say if my grammar is not perfect. I am planning to follow the SBAR and 4 box format that I learned from this class for all writing that I will do in healthcare writing.

I would rate myself a 7 out of 10 as a writer. My biggest challenges are being easily distracted when writing and sometimes dealing with “writer’s block” whereas I blank out and do not know what else to write on my paper but once the idea comes into my head, I don’t stop writing and get it done usually pretty well and thought out. One approach that I will take into account for my writing is understanding and knowing my audience because to make the writing have meaning behind it, the reader has to be able to understand it well and possibly relate to it.

If I have to put it in a number I would rate my writing 8 out of 10. My main struggles with writing I will be out of idea on what to write on my paper, and I get distractedeasily . However, once I got an idea I will juwrite down what is on my mind and then edite it very well and thoughtfully. Understanding and knowing my audience is one strategy I’ll apply when writing, as the reader needs to be able to comprehend it clearly and maybe relate to it in order for the work to have significance.

I would give myself a 7/10 as a writer. I get easily distracted when writing and run out of ideas of what to write quickly, other times I will overthink and write more than I need to. The approaches I plan to take in this module to improve my writing is to know who my audience is and actually know what I am talking about rather than just putting something on paper just to put it there. My goal is to show my audience I am knowledgeable in what I’m talking about and to write a paper that’s well detailed while also being smooth and easy to read.

I rate myself a 7 out of 10 as a writer. My most significant challenges in writing are using/citing outside sources and creating a smooth flow of ideas and sentences. I tend to avoid quoting and citing outside resources, so I lack knowledge in that aspect. However, I find it very useful to know how to cite outside resources to add more credibility to your writing. I also struggle with creating a smooth flow in my sentences as I tend to write very choppy or run-on sentences. In this module, I will review the citing and the revising/proofreading resource to improve my writing.
