Fundamentals of Occupational Safety and Health

Instructions 

1. Locate a short article on a workplace violence incident in a U.S. general industry workplace. A couple of rules on the article selection are as follows:
2. The article should be recent and no more than five years old.
3. Ensure the publication source is credible. The source does not have to be scholarly, but make sure it is not just a blog or opinion piece.
4. Write full one-page paper (not including cover andreference pages) critique on the article that includes the following points:
1. Name of company and location
2. Type of industry and products (i.e. manufacturing, steel piping, etc.) 
3. A brief paragraph or two on the details of the workplace violence incident date, the suspected or known reason for the violence, and any other significant details such as:
1. Can you determine from the information provided if the company was negligent in preventing the incident?
2. Was the offender known to have anger management issues or involved in previous incidents?
3. If the offender was not another employee, how did the individual gain access to the facility?
4. Include any other information that stood out to you in the article. 
5. Include the article link with your references in an appropriate APA format.
6. The information shall be properly cited and referenced using the APA 7^th edition. NOTE: All cited information must be credible and be able to verify from source referenced.

 

Criteria:

1. Text should be organized with an introduction, body, and conclusion. The purpose of the text should be stated. The title of the article and the name of the author should be included.
2. Article should be related to the assigned topic. Summary should provide important points from the article. Ideas are presented with supporting details. A satisfactory degree of elaboration should be presented.
3. Writing should include reflective thinking and provides a description of how information relates to other ideas, courses, educational, and professional experiences. Strengths and weaknesses of ideas central to the article are addressed.
4. Mechanics of style should enhance content understanding and writing skillfully supports the message and is in required format. Citations and references present and in accordance with APA 7^th edition.
